Fira

Fira, the capital of Santorini, is built beautiful and unique to the crater rim. Since Fira is really fantastic, and also large cruise ships arrive here, it is here in the season always very full.
Directly on the crater rim, there are many very beautiful restaurants and bars. Who really wants to live unique once, perhaps takes a room directly on the crater rim. Prices are very high at the rim, but the views of the caldera compensated for it.

At the bottom of the caldera is the old port of Santorini, which you can reach on foot, with a donkey or cable car. At the old harbour lie several times a week large cruise ships at anchor.
The old town of Fira behind the crater rim is car free and has small alleys. You find a number of shops and restaurants. Here you eat good meals, which are cheaper as on the crater rim.
Outside the Old City, there are many rooms and hotels, which are usually fairly expensive.
In the high season, it may happen that there are no affordable rooms to rent in Fira.

In any case, you have to see Fira, if you travel to the Cyclades, because the city is something very special.

Oia

Oia is one of the most beautiful places in the Cyclades. Many of the houses are built on the slope of the Caldera, as in the village of Fira. The sea view is breathtakingly beautiful.

In the alleys you will find a relatively large number of galleries offering works of art, as many artists have just settled in Oia. Of course you will also find the usual souvenirs, clothing and jewellery shops.

Oia is a popular day-trip destination for holidaymakers who live in other places on Santorini. Especially in the evening it can get quite crowded, because you shouldn't miss the beautiful sunset in Oia. The sun sets on a clear day directly above the sea.

Below Oia is the port of Ammoudi, which can be reached by stairs from Oia.

Perissa

Perissa lies directly on the sea, and is one of the biggest seaside cities on Santorini. The city is mainly along the main road, which passes through the village. On the main road, there are many hotels, rooms, shops, restaurants and bars. At the end of the road lies the campsite in good position (at night you should carefully watch your valuables!).
Perissa is mostly controlled by backpacking tourists. Prices in Perissa are more favorable for Santorini. If you do not have to see the crater rim in Thira or Oia every day, you can have a relatively relaxed time here.

Kamari

Kamari is located on the sea and is one of the largest seaside resorts on Santorini. Kamari is a place for package tourists, with all the amenities.
The town offers shops, restaurants, bars and a lot of hotels. . Especially in the high season, it is quite full.
Kamari is located near the airport, but the planes do not interfere. To the main village Thira there are regular buses circulating.
